An Upgrade is one of the player's key systems to gain an advantage in a war or skirmish against an opponent. Upgrading is when a commander purchases one of these in its respective structure to arm his infantry, tanks, aircraft or even buildings with better equipment and/or weapons. While upgrading all of them in one game as one faction is very beneficial, this is an expensive endeavor, and it may even be pointless if the commander doesn't use the units that benefit from the upgrade or use the active ability that the upgrade grants (such as EMP Coils).
