This unit processes Tiberium into its component elements. Building the refinery immediately deploys a Tiberium harvester and each Refinery can handle an infinite number of Harvesters. The refinery stores 1,000 credits of processed Tiberium. - Command & Conquer (1995) manual
”
The Refinery is the game's primary means of acquiring money by players, allowing the building of new structures and units. Though an expensive 2000 credits to build, each Refinery comes with a Harvester, which will automatically begin harvesting any nearby Tiberium (assuming some Tiberium is visible in the revealed part of the map, otherwise the Harvester will sit idle and wait for instruction). If there is a Harvester docked with the Refinery an Engineer will hijack the Harvester for the capturer's use as well as the building and any stored Tiberium. Each Refinery is able to store 1000 credits of refined Tiberium (just under one and a half Harvester loads). When this reaches capacity, the player will need to build Tiberium Silos.
