During Second World War it held several Soviet naval bases, responsible for Baltic operations. After the disbandment of Soviet Union it became independent, but suffered severe economical crises following being cut from techno-industrial chains and it took time to recover.
During the First Tiberium War the Republic of Estonia included a territory of 17,413 square miles with a population of 1,607,00 citizens. Estonia has not fared well in the last decade of the twentieth century; according to GDI intelligence, it had a negligible GDP and was protected by a militia force. Its weakness soon led to its occupation by the forces of the Brotherhood of Nod.
