C-130s paradrop Rangers during Operation Black Gold.
The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is an USA aircraft.
Background[]
The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop cargo aircraft. Capable of short takeoffs and landings from unprepared runways, the C-130 was originally designed as a troop, medical evacuation and cargo transport aircraft. The versatile airframe has found uses in a variety of other roles, including as a gunship, and for airborne assault, search and rescue, scientific research support, weather reconnaissance, aerial refuelling and aerial firefighting.
Deployment History[]
During the GLA conflict, this versatile and durable aircraft was used in precisely these roles, delivering critically needed supplies to drop zones, performing paradrops, and transporting important units to the war zone. It was also a subject to hijacking by GLA soldiers like the one that was used to transport chemical samples and another which was used to transport Global Liberation Army leader Mohmar Deathstrike. One of the biggest paradrop operations by C-130s was in Black Gold where the American Commander and General Granger flew these to recapture the airport.
